Willem Bouwer van Rooyen

A highly-qualified educator, veteran musician Van Rooyen has
spent decades building bridges between traditional academic
opposites – science and art.
Well-known in South African music circles, his service to
the community spans more than 50 years through his roles
as pianist, organist and choir director at multiple levels.
Van Rooyen balanced two careers: science educator
and manager by day, and music performer after hours and
over weekends.
He established three community choirs, initiated
southern Africa’s largest sustainable music bursary
scheme and championed inclusivity and cross-cultural
relations as chairman of the Southern African Church
and Concert Organists’ Society (SACOS).
Anele Siswana
BPsych [counselling], Nelson Mandela University;
MA [clinical psychology], Rhodes University
Award-winning clinical psychologist Siswana plays
a pioneering role in placing mental health within an
Africa-centred context – transforming the profession
into one that focuses on the needs of South Africans,
and the wider continent.
The Wellness & Consulting Services director
advocates for the recognition of Africa-focused
psychology in clinical practice, significantly contributing
to clinical developments at public and private hospitals.
Siswana is a popular brand influencer, corporate
wellness host and heavyweight media presence.
Industry recognition includes a Young Achievers Award
(Board of Health Care Funders, 2019) and a BHF awards
nomination for Excellence in the Health industry during
the COVID-19 pandemic.
